About Us

Our Team

The Prior Chest Nuts are a group of dedicated breast cancer survivors who have come together to enjoy and promote the sport of dragon boat paddling. Twice a week we can be found at the White Lake Marina honing our paddling skills. The Chest Nuts also support and participate in local festivals and community events.

Our History

The journey started in January 2010 at an Arnprior and District Breast Cancer Support Group (ADBCSG) meeting, where new members met and shared a dream to paddle in a local dragon boat festival.   The Prior Chest Nuts were formed, dedicated to supporting the development of recreational dragon boat paddling as a contribution to a healthy lifestyle for men and women diagnosed with breast cancer.  Every May since, we have been ready to hit the water on White Lake. We have participated in dragon boat festivals across Ontario, as well as, Sarasota, Florida and Florence, Italy.

Our Mission

The purposes of the Team are:

· To provide education to women and their families, the medical community and the public, in all aspects of Breast Cancer Survivorship, wellness, and Dragon Boat Racing.

· To promote interest in Breast Cancer Survivorship and participation in the

sport of Dragon Boat Racing.

· To bring together paddlers who have survived breast cancer for sport, recreation, education and competition.
